THURSDAY!....THURSDAY!....THURSDAY!
I can hear the commercial playing in my head for the Monster Truck Rally coming to the local Civic Center.
"We'll sell you the whole seat but you'll only need the edge!"
It looks something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohp_nmI_TFA
Except, it's not Grave Digger or Bigfoot. It's Baylor and Oklahoma! It's Oregon and Stanford! Who would've thought at the beginning of the year that the Thursday night before Alabama and LSU squared off would be the main event? But, that's where we find ourselves this week.
While I'm happy that we don't get the usual Georgia Tech Thursday night game or even that great Mississippi State vs Kentucky hilt from last week, something just seems wrong about having these two games on Thursday. But that doesn't mean I won't watch them anyways...
1) Don't Miss the Final Show EVER! - This is the last year of the BCS and it is looking like a nightmare scenario could play out for one and maybe two or three teams. While I like Baylor a lot, I am not convinced they will run the gauntlet of their final 5 games. So let's leave them out of this mix. If Oregon and Alabama win this weekend there is an excellent chance that we will have multiple undefeated teams. Tell me who is FSU going to lose to. They just waxed their most likely opponent in the ACC title game who also lost their best player to injury. Tell me who Ohio State is going to lose to. Granted, their schedule is softer than that rag top that just got crushed by Bearfoot and they won't matter if they are undefeated. The odds aren't likely, but we could have as many as 5 undefeated teams after the regular season. I'm guessing we'll finish with 3. Who gets left out?
2) Show up in your Jorts and it's BUY ONE, GET ONE HALF OFF! - Florida's offense is a dumpster fire. I know they've had a ton of injuries, but do you really think that would change things? I know they came back in the 2nd half against UGA but they were aided dramatically by UGA mistakes. Florida's defense can play (though Mizzou exposed it with a back-up QB and UGA torched it in the 1st half) but their offense is what may ultimately cost Will Muschamp his job (not this year though, well, I don't think)
3) Watch the DAREDEVIL try and leap 50 FLAMING SCHOOL BUSES! - Like Florida, UGA has lost a ton of players to injury this year. After watching the game against the Gators this weekend though, it is apparent that only one really mattered...Todd Gurley. The team just has a different air about it when he is on the field. I don't think he's still at 100% yet he had 100 yards rushing and a TD catch of 70+ yards. He's the difference maker for the entire team.
4) Don't forget...TRUCKASAURUS! - Let's be honest...how did Tennessee beat South Carolina? I have no idea how this happened. I picked Tennessee to cover against Mizzou last week. Let's just say that didn't go very well for me. Mizzou wiped the ugly Orange Nation right out of the stadium. It was ugly and it wasn't close. I know you can't do the ladder game but Carolina is a Top 10 team. How did it lose to such an inferior opponent? Wow.

SEC Power Rankings
14) Arkansas - They Scored!
13) Kentucky - They Won!
12) Mississippi State - They Stink!
11) Tennessee - Other than that inexplicable win against Carolina and their near victory against UGA, they Stink too!
9B) Vandy -
9A) Florida -These two teams meet on Saturday to determine the 9th best team in the SEC. Even though Florida's offense is horrible, they are favored by 10. Remember what happened last time Vandy had a bye? They beat UGA. I don't know if they'll beat the Gators in the Swamp but you better believe I am taking the points.
8) Ole Miss - This team beat the current Big 12 leader by three TDs on the road. Their still the 8th best team in the SEC. But the SEC is top heavy.
7) Georgia - I think UGA can return to it's formal self in the coming weeks. In the years that they have beaten Florida under Mark Richt, they've typically been able to find another gear down the stretch. They have a very tough game at Auburn coming up and they finish with Tech on the road, but they could win out if they stay healthy.
6) Texas A&M - This seems weird to have them at 6th but I still have very little faith in their defense.
5) LSU - This also feels odd. But they can make a major statement this weekend that might make me forget about that Ole Miss game (well, maybe not)
4) South Carolina - Remember when Carolina was great at the beginning of a season and then fell apart half way through. Not anymore.
3) Missouri - Seems like they're the only team other than Bama to blast a bad Tennessee team.
2) Auburn - I'm still impressed but they have some tests remaining on the schedule. Let's see if they can run wild on the Vols this weekend too.
1) Alabama - Earlier this year, I thought LSU would pull the upset this weekend. I'm not as sure now. We'll see on Saturday night though
