6. Remember the Titans
Denzel Washington plays coach Herman Boone in a mostly true story of the integration of T.C. Williams High School football team in Alexandria, VA.
The imagery in this movie really stood out to me. Boone takes his team to camp near Gettysburg, PA (in reality Berry College, GA). In order to motivate his team to integrate and accept one another, Boone wakes the players in the middle of the night and runs them tirelessly to the site of the Battle of Gettysburg.
I think we can all learn something from the movie. Maybe some of you are not hung up on racial issues, as displayed in this film. But, are you a Republican who dislikes Democrats (or vice versa)? Are you a Christian who dislikes Muslims? Or, are you an Auburn fan who hates Alabama?
Just remember: at the end of the day, affiliations are fine, can be fun, and even encouraged. But, please remember that whether you always agree with someone or not, you can, most of the time, find a way to tolerate and respect others as human beings, limiting the hatred and animosity that is displayed all around us.
